A valid passport and visa are required to visit Rwanda. Tourists are eligible to apply for a traditional visa, which is a stamp inside the passport, or they can apply for an e-Visa, which is an electronic visa and can be obtained online without submitting the original passport. To apply for a traditional Rwandan tourist visa, please see Tourist Visa Requirements. To apply for a Rwandan e-Visa, simply fill out Travisa’s online request form.

The Rwanda e-Visa is for tourist visits only. This visa is issued and stored electronically. The traveler will not receive any document in the mail; the e-Visa will be sent as an attachment (via email).

A valid passport and business visa are required for travel to Rwanda.

Passport Requirements:

Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay in Rwanda, with at least one blank passport page available for Rwandan visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Rwanda visas.

Rwanda Visa Application Form:

One original Rwandan visa application form, properly completed and signed, plus one copy. An improperly completed Rwanda visa application may delay the processing of your Rwandan visa.

Photo Requirements:

Two recent, identical, 2 x 2 passport photographs, in color, front view and with a plain/light background.


OR - you can upload a passport photo to the Global Service Order Form when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.

Business Letter

Letter from employer or sponsoring company in the US, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant's employment status/position held in the company, and clearly stating the purpose of visit to Rwanda. The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Rwanda.

Proof Of Departure:

Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency or copy of airline tickets.

Medical Requirements:

A yellow fever vaccination is required. While the embassy does not require the applicant to supply proof of vaccination in order to apply for a visa, immigration at the destination airport may require proof of vaccination.

Global Service Order Form:

This is Travisa's service order form, where you will provide your contact and shipping information, choose the visa processing needed and make your payment. You must print the completed form and send it to Travisa with all other supporting documents.

A letter of intent outlining the applicant's purpose of travel to Rwanda, the length of intended stay, name of places to be visited, contact information, and accommodation information in Rwanda.
